The Gladiator

Overall I really enjoyed the movie The Gladiator and the way the writer portrayed Maximus as a "hero" and determined to get revenge for the lost of his family and freedom. I didn't like Commodus' character they gave him way too much screen time and the fact that he wanted to have a child with his sister also creeped me out. I understand in that time it was acceptable and gave the movie a little bit more historical accuracy it was still disgusting and wasn't needed.  A lasting impression would be when Maximus saw Lucius right before he was going into the arena to fight, it was the changing point of the movie when Maximus finally came into contact with Commodus' again then would soon seek his revenge. Though Lucilla wasn't a main character, she intrigued me the most. As far as her brother wanting to have a baby with her and how she would go about having a relationship with Maximus kept me puzzled throughout the entire movie, as if you never knew what she would do next.

I feel like the moral to this story/movie would be that even when all of your power/dignity has be stripped from you, you can always regain it with determination/devotion.
